Living & MS Feb.24.09

A very long day, faster paced than I like to live through but all in all it went well.

I started the day at the hospital, getting pain meds after having taking oral meds to no avail around 6:30am and it looks like my day will most likely finish with a trip there as well *sigh* I am feeling quite discouraged when I pause to think about the condition I am in.  The IVIg definetely improved my physical state and fatigue levels but the idea that this state may be one I have to accept as my new norm is quite hard to swallow.

Emeraude & I had fun this morning doing a ‘fancy’ hair do… inspired by her powwow clips we pulled out when getting her shawl to do some fancy dancing 🙂 Shirley came to pick her up and brought her to play at the family place, I prepared my questions for John Arkwright & prepared myself, Lloyd was home for lunch then Shirley & Emeraude returned, Karin called for to update me on John’s ETA and I was off to the hospital for some meds.

I had time to run by Fields before going for lunch and found some dress pants I hope to try on in the morning, fingers crossed that I grabbed the proper size and they look nice as I am between sizes again (lost 26 pounds since jan.2 when the steroids failed).

Lunch with the folks from the EDC, Sled North, John Arkwright and the other writer from Supertrax was interesting. It is always nice to hear opinions in regards to what is going well with our snowmobile trails and improvements that can be made. John made the comment that it would be nice to see Superior Snow Loop Challenge signage on the trails which I think is brilliant and definitely something worth following. This seems like a no-brainernow that he’s said it but I do not think I have ever heard the suggestion before (and I certainly didn’t come up with it) two big thumbs up on that one. He had some other opinions which I was not necessarily  in agreement with but did enjoy hearing/debating. Karin is always so professional & good at getting people talking although she saves her own breath for important comments. I like Dave EDC more every time we meet. I think however that people underestimate him because of his young looks – their mistake. I certainly had the impression that was happening today, it was kind of funny actually.

Afterwards it was time to race home as Emeraude had CanSkate. She was wonderful, she has grown so much as a skater during this year. She was hopping, skating all around, practising her ‘spins’ today and I just love watching. It wasn’t terribly cold or uncomfortable their today which made it that much more enjoyable.

After skating I needed to stop back by Fields to talk to Sheena and took advantage of her needing a ride to have her accompany us to the hospital to be my driver as I needed more pain meds *thank you sheena for your patience :)*.  She dropped us off after that and I will probably pick up the van when I finish blogging here.

Emeraude finally got to play in the kitchen sink (she had been wanting to since yesterday and it just hadn’t worked out until tonight) for a good hour at least. She did all kinds of dishes, made ‘soup’ and just had fun. Then she & I made some choc pudding before I set to work on supper. We had decided on french toast with blueberries & toppings which was fun. Lloyd cooked some of them too as I had to sit down half way through. Brother went for a shower after that & had to put on some shorts as Emeraude snuck in to join him. Story time and my girl was out like a light. Lloyd is not feeling well unfortunately so I sent him to lay down early too (21h) hoping that maybe he is just too tired and will feel better with a little extra rest.

As for me, my legs are a little more than I think I could fall asleep dealing with unfortunately so I think I will try and get to the hospital and call it a night.  I had hoped to begin on an article about this afternoon for Michigan Snowmobiler, get the info I jotted down during the lunch typed into my laptop while it is fresh in my head (the next issue isn’t until september but i have a few to write and so need to get as many facts for each down as I can to write them while camping this summer). Maybe one for the Echo as well. I also need to get in touch with Dave Jung about the ski hill (Randy too after that) for the Chronicle… Have not written my letter to Second Story Press as of yet either….

*sheesh, sigh* what a list… i’m overwhelmed and underinthused, must rest. goodnight.
