Living with MS – Feb.09 – Ativan details
Sublingual Ativan is a medication used mainly for panic attacks and I also take it when I am at the hospital or in a situation where I am feeling rapid increase of pain, specifically when it’s the head pressure I occasionally deal with which is pretty scary – like if someone said “here, put your head on the counter and I’ll set you on fire and hit you with this hammer” and for some reason you had to just let them do it – I know the pain I’m going to be in very soon if a nurse does not intervene immediately and often the severity of it is not taken at all seriously and so then I start vomitting (or gagging) which is excrutiating and adds to the pressure which already feels like it couldn’t possibly get worse… ANYWAYS, if I have it with me or think of it (this head pressure situation has me in a panick pretty quick especially if I am dealing with a nurse that either doesn’t know about it or can’t listen to a patient or has little/no respect for a patient and starts wasting time with stupid quesions/comments and does not tell my doctor what I ask her to accurately or at all)… Like most people who deal with Manitouwadge General Hospital’s ER regularly or for long periods of time my first instinct is to start praying that Cathy K., Rhona, Sheryl or Shawna is working that day.
