Chief Declares Pic Mobert First Nations’ Resolve To Forcefully Defend Thier Territory + Info Re: Nipigon Rally

 

PIC MOBERT POW WOW GROUNDS, HWY 17, ON – Friday January 11th a rally was held  by members of Pic Mobert First Nations peacefully protesting their objection to Bill C-45 as they continued to participate in the Idle No More movement.  During the protest, Chief Johanna Desmoulin declared for those gathered, including videographer Melissa Desmoulin-Luce, that;

“Pic Mobert First Nation from this day forward declares unity and resolve to forcefully defend our land, our territory and our jurisdiction”

The Chief had explained to OntarioNewsNorth.com during an interview the week prior (CLICK HERE to view), her concerns for protection of water resources among other things and that she strongly believed this was an issue affecting not only First Nations peoples but also non-Native Canadians.  Chief Desmoulin had shared that she felt the message was being heard.

Another “Idle No More” rally is planned in Nipigon this Wednesday, January 16th which has been declared a Day of Action by First Nations Groups.  A group of people from of Pic Mobert First Nations are among those planning to travel to attend the peaceful protest in Nipigon as are a group of Water Walkers from Thunder Bay led by Teresa Trudeau Magiska (CLICK HERE  for full article RE: Water Walkers)

For those interested in showing their support, the Idle No More rally in Nipigon is scheduled for Noon with Closing remarks at 3pm

If you will be travelling through the region on Wednesday please allow yourself  extra time to reach your destination as traffic will be delayed at rally sites.  Whatever your position may be in regards to the issues in question,  please be respectful of those protesting and  use extra caution on the highway near people on foot.
