MARATHON, ON –2010. Lakeview Manor Bed & Breakfast planned 2 separate sittings for their high tea July 5th, they were such a success however that they added a third the following day serving a total of 42 individuals at the 3 sittings.
Monday’s guests enjoyed live entertainments by Gary Piche, of Espanola, serenading the guests with soft songs on his guitar. Many of the visitors enjoyed tours of the guests house, listening intently as the history of the home was shared. Owner Christina Welch noted that many of the tea enthusiasts had much to add regarding historic information for Lakeview Manor.
Guests were pleasantly surprised upon leaving, as each was sent home with a packet of Lakeview Manor Bed & Breakfast’s House Tea. Welch has promised to host another High Tea at the Manor next year, it is certain to be another hit!
ABOUT LAKEVIEW MANOR
Formerly known as the Mill Guest House, the home was built in 1948 to accommodate the visiting management and dignitaries of Marathon Paper Mills of Canada Ltd. In the fashion of the post war times, the house was built to show the wealth of the company. The rich wood panels in the study and the servant’s stair well running from basement to attic prove the company had set the tone for prosperity for the new Mill town.
After 50 or so years the house remained as a mill guest house until approximately eleven years ago when the house was sold by the company. The home still remains as a guest house, but now as a bed and breakfast.
