MANITOUWADGE,ON  – April 24^th, 2010 Ontario Provincial Police are said to have been the first on scene at a bush fire on the ‘Jack Watson Logging Channel’ (old rail bed) on the outskirts of the township within view from Hwy 614 Saturday.  Emergency response vehicles arrived quickly to begin working at extinguishing the fire.  Fire fighting efforts included the local volunteer Fire Department, Ministry of Natural Resources Fire Fighters who happened to be at the airport, just minutes away, when they were called, and a water bomber which did numerous drops.
