SCHREIBER, ON – May 4th-6th, OntarioNewsNorth.com was proud to once again sponsor the North Shore Singers as, they presented their Spring 2012 concerts in Schreiber, Geraldton and Terrace Bay, titled “Music that Rocks“.
The singers, conducted by Gerry Price, once again welcomed the Northshore’s most well-known voice, CFNO radio News Director Al Cresswell as the Narrator of the shows. Natalie Labbee attended the show on its first night in Schreiber and was blown away by the group’s incredible performance. “Each time I see them I am impressed all the more with the wide variety of musical genres the NS Singers offer audiences” said Labbee explaining that, in her opinion, “Music that Rocks” was the perfect balance of classics and Beatles favourites including Cresswell’s surprising performance of “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da“.
An amazing montage of “Les Miserables” songs included 8 year old Kirsten Andrews, standing on a milk crate to provide her sweet, melodic interpretation of ‘Castle on a Cloud’ (by the character Cosette in the musical) audiences were left wiping away tears. Labbee who has seen the original musical live twice in Toronto was blown away by the touching performance she described as “Flawless” adding that the young Northshore artist hit every key with an “accuracy and honesty beyond her years”.
The North Shore Singers, celebrating their 5th season this year, continued after the performance in Schreiber, to travel on to Geraldton where it was their first performance in several years before coming back ‘home’ to play Terrace Bay for their final show of the weekend.
